Membership activation terms
Content Summary
A. I declare that:
- I have achieved the academic qualification as evidenced in the digital copies of my official and original transcripts and award or completion letter submitted to CPA Australia Ltd (CPA Australia)
- the information provided in my membership application is true and correct.
B.
- I give permission for CPA Australia to make all reasonable efforts to verify that the information provided in support of my application is true and correct. This may include — but is not limited to — contacting my learning or professional institute to verify academic documentation, my employer/s to validate my employment history, and any other professional organisation referenced in support of my application, and I give permission for them to provide verification as requested.
C. I accept that:
- I may be required by CPA Australia to provide additional information or clarification of any matter in respect of my membership and will do so in writing within 10 business days of receipt of a request from CPA Australia
- I will undertake and keep a record of my continuing professional development obligations, including any mandatory requirements, currently 120 hours every three years (triennium) with a minimum of 20 hours per year
- if admitted as a member of CPA Australia, I agree to be bound by CPA Australia’s Constitution, By-Laws (including the requirement to continue to be a fit and proper person in accordance with By-Law 3.16), Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards and applicable regulations now in force, or which may hereafter from time to time be in force. These applicable regulations include, but are not limited to:
• CPA Australia’s Constitution, By-Laws, Code of Professional Conduct and Applicable Regulations, (as defined in the Constitution), including the continuing professional development requirements (which have been updated as of 1st October 2023), and any relevant specific terms and conditions;
• comply with any additional prescribed requirements and standards in order to maintain the relevant statutory registration(s) I hold (if applicable), as provided under Part 4 of the By-Laws. - if admitted as an Associate member of CPA Australia, I agree to be bound by the terms and conditions detailed in the current CPA Program rules and regulations.
- if admitted to foundation exams, I agree to be bound by the terms and conditions detailed in the current foundation exam rules and regulations.
- the decision to approve my application or vary my level of membership is at the discretion of CPA Australia in accordance with CPA Australia’s Constitution and By-Laws
- CPA Australia has the right to vary or cancel my application or my subsequent enrolment made on the basis of incorrect or incomplete information
- If admitted as an Associate member of CPA Australia, I cannot advance to CPA status until I have completed a degree level qualification recognised by CPA Australia and the CPA Program, including the three-year practical experience requirement, within six years of admission as an Associate member
- my failure to advance to CPA status within six years of admission as an Associate member will result in loss of my membership
- if admitted as an Associate member, I am not permitted to act as a principal or partner or director in public practice offering public accounting services
- I am required to notify CPA Australia, in writing, of any matter(s) arising that may bear upon my fitness for continuing membership
- if my application is based on a mutual recognition or pathway agreement with another professional association I will continue to maintain dual membership (if required)
- Personal information provided as part of my application will be handled in accordance with the CPA Australia Privacy Policy.
