This collection notice should be read in conjunction with the CPA Australia Privacy Policy (Privacy Policy). This collection notice applies to anyone who interacts with Us (excluding members, applicants for membership, employees and applicants for employment (including Our contingent workforce)) such as when you:
- make a general enquiry or visit Our office/s
- sign up to receive communications from Us (eg In The Black, etc)
- supply to or purchase goods and/or services from Us
- inquire about, apply for, enrol or participate in Our activities including educational, training or professional development offerings
- are a party to any disciplinary or professional misconduct proceedings
- are involved in the quality assurance process, or
- engage with Us, for example as an industry partner, sponsor, presenter, member benefit provider or subject expert.
If you have made an application for membership with Us, your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Members Collection Notice. If you have made an application for employment with Us, your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Employee Collection Notice.
Types of personal information We collect and handle
We will collect and retain the information and supporting documentation you provide during your interactions with Us. This may include your contact details, the details of your interactions with Us, communication preferences, fee payments, courses undertaken including assessments and results, attendance at and participation in CPA Australia activities, purchase or supply details including payment, delivery and order details.
We may also use targeted internet searches and publicly available information to maintain Our records.
Sensitive or special category data
We will only collect this type of information with your consent and when necessary for the provision of the services you have requested. Examples may include medical information in the course of assessing applications for reasonable adjustments connected with your employment or as part of professional misconduct proceedings to which you are a party.
What We do with your personal information
We process your personal information, or have it processed on Our behalf, for the purpose of facilitating your interaction with Us and to assist Us to improve your experience. This may include doing so for a secondary purpose for which you would reasonably expect Us to use or disclose your personal information.
In addition to the purposes outlined in our privacy policy, We may collect, use and/or disclose your personal information:
- to correspond with you
- to inform you of Our activities, including educational opportunities, seminars and conferences, and to support and administer such activities
- to seek your feedback when you engage with Us
- to provide educational offerings including the Foundation and CPA Programs, professional development and continuing practice development program offerings
- for a secondary purpose for which you would reasonably expect Us to use or disclose your personal information, and
- for purposes to which you consent or as otherwise permitted by law.
We will obtain your consent for any specific use of your personal information not covered by this collection notice.
With whom do We share your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to third parties including the following:
- when you participate in the Malaysian Uni-Qualified Fund, Yayasan Peneraju and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) – MARA, Universiti Abdul Razak (UniRazak), Noesis or Sunway TES in accordance with the requirements of that fund
- university and other educational providers involved with or engaged by Us for the Foundation and CPA Programs or other professional development programs including exam service providers, and
- contracted service providers as identified in Our Privacy Policy.
We may provide your contact details to service providers We engage for use in direct marketing but We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
If you are involved in a complaint, disciplinary or professional conduct proceedings, your personal information may be disclosed to:
- the member/s named in the complaint
- parties involved in the dispute resolution process
- member/s of disciplinary panels, and
- transcript recording service providers.
