Australia skills assessment outcome
Your Australia skills assessment is subject to set periods of validity. Find out how you can appeal your outcome, update your skills assessment and other options available to you.
How long is your application valid for?
Your application with CPA Australia is valid for three years from the date of your initial assessment outcome. Please note that any subsequent updates, such as applying for skills assessments of additional ANZSCO codes, skilled employment assessments or reviews, will not reset the expiration date of an application.
Your assessment outcome is valid with the Department of Home Affairs for three years from the date of outcome.
Update, appeal or request a skills assessment (new ANZSCO code)
Use your existing CPA Australia account for the services below. See assessment fees.
1. Update your assessment
You can update your assessment if you've completed additional study with other higher education providers or another English test and your application is still valid, that is within three years from the date of your initial assessment outcome. If the validity period of your application has expired, you will need to start a new application (using your existing CPA Australia ID).
2. Appeal your assessment
If you've received a skills assessment from us that you feel is inaccurate, you can appeal the decision. Appeals will use the documents you submitted with your application.
To be considered, an appeal application must be submitted within 12 months from the assessment outcome date stated on the outcome letter.
If you wish to submit new documents for your application, then this will be a skills assessment update for your application, not an appeal.
External appeal
If you're unsatisfied with the outcome of your appeal, you can contact the Administrative Appeals Tribunal or the Commonwealth Ombudsman to see if the assessment outcome qualifies for an independent review.
3. Skills assessment for a new ANZSCO code
You can submit a skills assessment application for additional ANZSCO codes after your initial application is submitted, for the duration of the application validity period, that is, three years from the date of your initial assessment outcome. If the validity period of your application has expired, you will need to start a new application (using your existing CPA Australia ID).
4. Skilled Employment Assessment
You can apply for a skilled employment assessment when you apply for the full skills assessment. You will need to submit a skilled assessment application, pay the relevant fee and provide the required skilled employment documentation, in addition to the remaining information and required documents. Alternatively, you can request for a skilled employment assessment if your application is still valid, that is, within three years from the date of your initial assessment outcome, pay the relevant fee and provide the required employment documents.
