CPA Australia has a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with CA Sri Lanka.
Pathway to CPA membership
The following steps demonstrate the pathway for qualified members of CA Sri Lanka to become an Associate member of CPA Australia, under the conditions of the current MRA.
Step 1: Determine your eligibility
You may be eligible to apply for Associate membership with CPA Australia if you:
- hold a degree comparable to at least an Australian bachelor degree level or have at least five years’ work experience in professional accounting
- have passed the CA Sri Lanka examinations and practical experience requirement
- have not gained your CA Sri Lanka membership through another mutual recognition agreement, any other similar pathway agreements or any special member pathway
- are a current member in good standing with CA Sri Lanka.
Step 2: Maintain your membership
A member of CA Sri Lanka who gains membership of CPA Australia under the terms of this MRA must retain their membership with the original membership body.
Work experience evidence
Some of our professional body pathways require evidence of professional work experience.
Step 3: Apply
Complete our online application and submit with the required documentation, including your application and membership fee.
In your application, nominate CA Sri Lanka as the professional body with whom you studied and hold membership.
Step 4: Verification and outcome of your application
Your application will take approximately 10 to 15 working days to verify. We will send you an email advising you of your assessment outcome.
Step 5: Advance to CPA status
Once you become an Associate member of CPA Australia, you will need to successfully complete:
- the Ethics and Governance subject of the CPA Program.
Your enrolment and payment must be received no less than six months prior to your deadline for attaining full CPA status.
Once complete, you will advance to CPA status, receive a CPA certificate and will then be able to use the CPA designation after your name.
