What is the public practice program?
The Public Practice Program delivers flexible and practical learning that allows you to build on the professional, ethical and legal knowledge required to succeed in your field. Carefully designed to help you overcome the evolving challenges of the profession, the program also factors in member insights that were gained from the MY FIRM. MY FUTURE. research report.
How does it work?
The program includes two separate components, each designed to prepare you for ongoing success. The first component is the flexible eLearning program, which includes five online modules that can be completed at any time. Each module will equip you with the latest insights needed to run your business. To complement that learning, the second component contains a practical workshop that can be accessed either virtually or face-to-face. This allows you to apply your learning to real-life scenarios and gain further insights from others working in the profession.
A system of quality management and a Risk Management Framework is required under APES 320 Quality Management for Firms that provide Non-Assurance Services or ASQM 1 Quality Management for Firms that Perform Audits or Reviews of Financial Reports and Other Financial Information, or Other Assurance or Related Services Engagements and APES 325 Risk Management for Firms.
Systems of quality of management and risk management are critical components of any practitioners firm to not only ensure ongoing compliance with their professional and ethical requirements but to ensure that there are systems and processes in place to ensure a high quality of service provided to clients. Where members do not maintain these systems there may be impacts on their professional indemnity insurance cover.
The Public Practice Program includes significant detail in both the eLearning modules and workshops. Members are able to access online CPA Australia member-only tools to help establish, implement and maintain these systems for their firms. To help support our new public practitioners and ensure they have established these fundamental systems, members are required to provide their system of quality management and risk management to CPA Australia for assessment prior to being granted their Public Practice Certificate.
To achieve a CPA Public Practice Certificate, you must successfully complete the eLearning program, Public Practice Program workshop, and all other PPC pre-requisites.
