The growing importance of sustainability
As the importance of sustainability continues to grow for many businesses, it is becoming clearer that boards and executive leadership teams need to consider nature as part of their materiality setting process, as well as their risk identification and mitigation strategies. Other key considerations include the fact that:
- younger employees want to join organisations that have aligned personal and professional goals – especially on climate
- various government bodies build reporting and governance frameworks for corporate sustainability and accountability
- finance and accounting teams need to drive this change due to their cross-functional visibility, and often robust reporting frameworks.
