Divisional Council Elections
The Divisional Council elections are conducted to elect members to the position of Councillor in accordance with Article 64 of the Constitution.
Divisional Council elections are conducted in accordance with Part 6 (Election Procedures) of CPA Australia By-Laws.
Members who are successfully elected to a Divisional Council in 2024 will be appointed for a three-year term commencing on 1 January 2025.

The number of vacancies by Divisional Council are listed below.
In accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws, some Divisional Councillors are eligible to nominate for reappointment to Council for a further term.

Call for Nominations
A 'Call for Nominations' will open on Monday the 8th of July to Wednesday the 7th of August, closing at 5.00pm (AEST).
Notices will be published in the INTHEBLACK, CPA Update and Divisional newsletters.
Further information regarding how to nominate will be available from Monday 8th July.
Eligibility
Members who hold the necessary membership status as set out in Article 63(c) of the Constitution, may nominate for election to the Divisional Council for their Division.
Associate Members*, Honorary Members, Members under suspension, and Members with outstanding fees, fines, or other amounts payable to CPA Australia that are more than three months overdue are not entitled to stand for election or to vote in the Divisional Council election.
(*Associate Members who qualify under Article 63(c)(ii) of the Constitution are eligible to nominate for Divisional Council)
Compliance Requirements for Candidates
All Divisional Councillors must agree to the Volunteer Code of Conduct, declare Conflicts of Interest as they arise and adhere to the CPA Australia Privacy Policy and Member Collection Notice .

Copies of these documents can be obtained by contacting your local Returning Officer and/or State Manager.
Returning Officers
Regional Heads are deemed 'Returning Officers' for the election process and ballot conduct for Divisional Councils.
Conduct of Elections and Voting by Members
Elections are conducted in accordance with Part 6 (Election Procedure) of CPA Australia’s By-Laws.Where the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, a ballot will be held. Divisional Council elections are conducted on behalf of CPA Australia by the independent online polling firm BigPulse.
Members with email addresses recorded by CPA Australia will receive their invitations to vote electronically. Members without email addresses will receive their invitation to vote through the post. Members will have electronic access to candidate details and can lodge their ballots electronically.
Instructions on how to lodge a valid vote will be provided with the voting information in accordance with Part 6 of the By-Laws, and the ballot will be conducted as ‘optional-preferential.’
