Recognised Employer Program changes effective 8 May 2025
CPA Australia has implemented two key changes to the REP to align with current professional standards and employer needs. The focus is on reducing administrative burdens and streamlining the onboarding experience for organisations.
For employers
Streamlined REP application process
- Online form: A new online form for applications and renewals will replace the previous PDF format, eliminating the need for supporting documents. This change will make the process faster, simpler, and more efficient.
- Minimum standards reference guide: Clear documentation outlining minimum learning and development standards will be provided. This reference guide will support employers in conducting a comprehensive self-assessment during the application process and will be provided as an ongoing resource to maintain best practices.
For CPA Australia members of REP partners
These updates help to ensure that members within the Recognised Employer Program have the same compliance requirements as all CPA Australia members, providing a fair and equitable experience for everyone. They also help protect the reputation of CPA Australia members and the high standard of the CPA designation by ensuring that professional development for members is anchored in integrity, meets all necessary requirements, and fulfills its intended purpose.
Compliance clarity and consistency
- CPD annual review and method to itemise CPD: The CPA Australia CPD Diary will no longer feature the "L - CPA Australia Recognised Employer Program" code. CPA Australia members of REP partners will now be required to itemise CPD they undertake and provide these records if selected in an annual CPD review. This ensures equity and compliance with CPD requirements across all CPA Australia members.
- Associate members (ASA): Itemising skills for Your Experience application: ASA members will now be required to itemise and record all 10 skills in the skills table to satisfy the experience requirement as part of the Your Experience Application. This ensures clear documentation for progression toward their CPA Australia designation which is consistent with all CPA Australia members.
New benefits of the Recognised Employer Program coming May 2025
CPA Australia is introducing two new benefits to the REP:
- Jobs Community on CPA Member Connect: We are introducing a Jobs Community on CPA Member Connect available for REP partners to access as a channel to promote accounting and finance vacancies. This feature will highlight REP partner job opportunities to CPA Australia members and connect REP partners directly with potential talent.
- Exclusive REP partner offers: We are introducing additional offers designed for REP partners to further reinforce their commitment to excellence. These opportunities empower your team to upskill, reskill and develop – ensuring your employees and organisation stay ahead in an ever-evolving landscape.
Next steps and support
These changes are designed to help REP partners achieve best-practice, adding value to your organisation and ensuring the integrity of the CPA Australia designation.
Stay tuned for upcoming announcements about the Jobs Community and the exclusive offers we intend to provide designed to support your organisation’s commitment to learning and development excellence.
