Advancing to CPA status is a significant milestone in your career, which reflects both your commitment to your professional development and your dedication to the accounting profession.

Becoming eligible to advance to CPA status

Once we’ve recognised your degree, you’ve successfully completed your four core CPA Program subjects, two electives and Your Experience, then you’re ready to advance to CPA status.

In satisfying the experience requirement you must demonstrate to CPA Australia that you’ve completed relevant professional experience.

When you’ve reached this milestone, you’ll receive a congratulatory email from CPA Australia advising of the next steps to receive your certificate. You should allow up to six weeks to receive this notification.

Attend a certificate presentation ceremony

You will receive an invitation via mail to attend a certificate presentation ceremony approximately four to six weeks prior to the next scheduled event in your region. If you don’t wish to attend, you may decline the invitation and receive your CPA certificate in the mail which will be posted approximately two weeks after the ceremony.

If you decide to receive your CPA certificate via mail, we recommend that you ensure your preferred mailing address is correct.

Planned certificate presentation ceremonies

We hold a number of certificate presentation ceremonies across Australia and in other locations worldwide. The current list of certificate ceremonies for Australia is listed below. As further ceremonies are confirmed, they will be added to the list. If you live internationally or do not see your region listed, contact your nearest CPA Australia office for further information on local certificate ceremony events.

How many guests may I bring?

Your letter of invitation will detail the procedure for inviting complimentary and paying guests and specify any costs which may apply. You may invite one guest without charge.

Can I request my certificate before the presentation?

In regions where two or more ceremonies are held annually, certificates won’t be mailed out prior to the presentation. If there are extenuating circumstances and you need your certificate sooner, you can contact us to request your certificate. It’s important to note you will not receive an invitation to the certificate ceremony in this instance.

In our smaller regions, where only one ceremony is held annually, certificates can be mailed out to members and they will still be invited to the next ceremony. Contact us for more information.

How can I attend a certificate presentation ceremony interstate

These requests can be made by contacting us.

Will there be a photographer at my certificate ceremony?

We have a photographer present at the majority of our presentation ceremonies and photographs will be taken by a CPA Australia employee at our more remote locations. In either case, photographs will be taken of all recipients receiving their certificate. Details on how to obtain copies of your photographs will be provided at your ceremony. All services are available online for CPA members.

Visit GFP Graduations or call 1300 360 445.

Can I get my Certificate replicated on a plaque?

GFP Graduations will attend at the majority of the presentation services and offer a range of graduation memorabilia including professional plaque services (perfect for your office) and keepsakes. All services are available online for CPA members.

Visit GFP Graduations or call 1300 360 445.

What if my location doesn’t host a certificate ceremony?

In this instance, your certificate will be posted. If you’d like to attend a certificate ceremony in another location, contact us.
