Why should I become a mentor?
A successful mentoring relationship provides a powerful development experience that is aimed to support the mentee in achieving their goals, but it also results in personal and professional benefits for the mentor. Becoming a mentor is a great opportunity to engage and give back to the profession by shaping the path of future business leaders, while also enhancing your own skills. In addition to these benefits, participants also earn 10 CPD hours for completing the program.
By applying for the Mentoring Program, you agree to your personal information being collected and handled in accordance with CPA Australia’s Privacy Policy and Statement.
Who can apply?
The role of the mentor
- Be available and accessible to the mentee according to the meeting frequency guidelines of this program. Understand that, if you cancel or postpone meetings frequently, you may send the wrong signal to your mentee and they might give up trying to contact you.
- Listen more than you talk.
- You may not have the answers to all your mentee’s questions, and that is appropriate. Don’t go beyond the bounds of your experience or expertise.
- Respond to your mentee and the Program Manager in a timely manner.
- Advise the Program Manager immediately if there are problems or your circumstances change, and you can no longer fulfil your responsibilities.
Your commitments
- Training, reading and program events: Up to 1 day in total.
- Preparation and time spent in mentoring conversations and follow-ups: 1-2 hours per month.
- Complete the short program surveys sent to you: 1 hour in total.
- Complete the mandatory training provided by Wednesday 1 May, 2024. Non-completion will lead to removal from the program.
- Read and abide by the Code of Conduct (see below).
