Designation badges

All current, paid-up members will be eligible for a digital designation badge for their current designation.

Eligible members will receive an email notification from Credly ([email protected]) with instructions for claiming their badge and setting up their account.

We’ll be releasing digital badges progressively from December 2024, starting with CPA and FCPA members. We expect to complete the initial roll-out by February 2025.

Eligible Associate members will be invited to accept their digital designation badges from January 2025. 

Following the initial rollout, members will receive an invitation from Credly within two weeks of becoming eligible for a badge. This will include new members being invited to accept a badge for the first time, and members whose designation has changed and are now eligible for a different badge.

If you’ve renewed your membership for 2025 and haven’t received an email from Credly, we recommend you check your junk mail or spam folder. If you still haven’t received notice from Credly, you can create an account using the email address verified with CPA Australia. Once logged in, you will see a pending badge on you profile, which you can accept, manage and share. You can also contact us for any additional support.

A digital badge is an online representation of a skill or credential that a person has earned. Digital designation badges are designed to be shared electronically, such as on social media profiles (e.g. LinkedIn), email signatures, resumes, or personal websites.

Once you log in to your Credly account, you will be able to share your badge by visiting the dashboard and selecting the Share button. You’ll then be presented with relevant sharing options.

You can share your badge directly from Credly to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook; over email; embedded in a website, or in your email signature.

During this initial rollout, we won’t be issuing specific badges to Public Practice Certificate holders. This will be considered at a later stage.

Yes, to claim a digital designation badge, you will need to create an account with Credly. This ensures the integrity and exclusivity of our digital designation badges, as Credly is able to verify each member and their designation.

No. Digital designation badges are linked to data hosted on Credly’s platform that is verifiable. This means the badges are more reliable and secure than even a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential.

The issue date reflects the date CPA Australia issued your digital designation badge, and does not correspond to your join date or any other aspect of your membership. Due to the timing of the badge rollout, most members will share the same or a similar issue date. The issue date cannot be altered on request. If a member requires proof of their designation start date, they can request a detailed Letter of Good Standing.

Digital designation badges do not have an expiry date; however, they will be revoked if a member is suspended or is no longer a current member.

You will be issued a new designation badge that you will need to re-share from the Credly dashboard. Your original badge will remain visible on the platforms where you shared it, so you’ll need to delete the original badge before sharing your new badge. Please note that if a third party clicks on a badge that is no longer current, they will see a “404 error” message indicating that the badge no longer exists.
