CIMA and CPA Australia renew Member Pathway Agreement
- Agreement continues to enhance accounting and finance professions
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), part of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, and CPA Australia have announced they have renewed their Member Pathway Agreement (MPA) for another four years.
First signed in 2008, the agreement allows members of each professional accounting body to concurrently become members of the other body and adopt, subject to criteria, the relevant professional designation. Over the years, the agreement has opened up new employment opportunities for members and given employers across the world access to a wider pool of accounting and finance talent.
CIMA members can join CPA Australia, subject to completing the CPA Australia Better Practice in Governance and Accountability course. CPA Australia members can join CIMA, subject to passing CIMA’s CGMA Professional Qualification Strategic Case Study Exam. Candidates will also need to meet the other body’s practical experience requirements to demonstrate their competence and experience in the workplace.
Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive — Management Accounting at AICPA and CIMA, together as the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, said:
‘CIMA and CPA Australia have been working together for fifteen years and we are pleased to continue our collaboration, showcasing our shared, ongoing commitment to building a strong and dynamic accounting and finance profession across the world. Through this agreement, we continue to support CIMA and CPA Australia members, wherever they are based, to make the most of their skill sets and access a wider range of employment opportunities. Holding both the CGMA and CPA designations is an additional opportunity to enhance their competitiveness in an interconnected job market.’
Rebecca Keppel-Jones, FCPA, GAICD, CPA Australia Chief of Member Operations, said:
‘CPA Australia and CIMA have enjoyed a long-standing partnership that provides a pathway to successful careers for accounting and finance professionals around the world. CPA Australia is committed to supporting members as they enhance their skills, knowledge and experience to enable them to pursue outstanding employment opportunities. We are delighted to renew our Member Pathway Agreement with CIMA and look forward to providing more members of both organisations the opportunity to achieve an additional advantage in the employment marketplace.’
