On 24 April 2024, the Appeals Tribunal upheld the decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal of 16 October 2023.
The Appeals Tribunal set aside the penalties imposed by the Disciplinary Tribunal and Determined the following:
Penalty and Costs:
The Appeals Tribunal found all the Complaints sustained and imposed the following penalties:
Complaint 1:
- forfeiture of membership for three years.
- a Fine of AU$10,000
- a fail to be recorded for the Contemporary Business Issues examination
Complaint 2:
- A severe reprimand.
Complaint 3:
- forfeiture of membership for 8 years
- a Fine of AU$20,000
- the General Manager Professional Conduct to advise the university at which the Member is currently enrolled of the determination of the Appeals Tribunal
The Member was ordered to pay a contribution to CPA Australia’s Disciplinary Tribunal costs of AUD$2,320, and the costs of the Appeals Tribunal amounting to AUD$11,846.50.
