On 22 February 2018 the Disciplinary Tribunal found Mr Gregory J Symes breached Article 39(a)(ii)C of the Constitution in respect of an assurance audit he provided to the Commonwealth Government to substantiate a significant grant for a client company.

Mr Symes attended the Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing and admitted the Complaint.

Penalty and costs

The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaint sustained and imposed the following penalties:

• a severe reprimand
• Mr Symes provide proof to the satisfaction of the General Manager Professional Conduct that he has undertaken 120 hours of continuing professional development in the last triennium.

MMr Symes was ordered to pay CPA Australia’s costs of $794.05.
