On 13 March 2015 the Disciplinary Tribunal found Mr Jeffery E Hartley of Cairns breached:
- Article 39(a)(ii)B.1) of the Constitution in that he was guilty of dishonourable practice in that around early 2013, he falsified his CPA Australia Membership Certificate to state he was of CPA status when he was only of Associate status
- Article 39(a)(ii)G of the Constitution in that Mr Hartley was found guilty by the Cairns’ Magistrates’ Court of one count of fraud in falsifying his CPA Australia Membership Certificate.
The Cairns Magistrates’ Court fined Mr Hartley $2000 and no conviction was recorded.
Mr Hartley did not attend the Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing.
Penalty and costs
The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaints sustained and imposed the following penalty:
- forfeiture of Membership for five years and not eligible for readmission until1 March 2020
- prior to any application for readmission, Mr Hartley must first successfully complete the CPA Program as a non Member.
Mr Hartley was ordered to pay costs of $726.48.
