On 2 December 2015, the Disciplinary Tribunal found Mr Geoffrey S Oliver breached:
- Article 39(a)(ii)G of the Constitution in respect of having been found guilty by the District Court of Western Australia on 29 April 2014 of one count of theft, in that he stole $125,345.97 from his former employer. Mr Oliver was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment with a non parole period of 10 months and ordered to pay compensation for the amount taken.
- Article 39(a)(ii)E of the Constitution in that Mr Oliver declared bankruptcy on 7 July 2015.
Mr Oliver attended the Hearing and admitted the Complaints.
Penalty and costs
The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaints sustained and imposed the following penalties and costs:
- forfeiture of Membership
- Mr Oliver is not eligible for readmission to Membership for four years following the expiration of his bankruptcy
- in the twelve months prior to any application for readmission, Mr Oliver must first complete the Ethics & Governance segment of the CPA Program.
Mr Oliver was also ordered to pay CPA Australia’s cost of $772.81 prior to any application for readmission.
