On 23 July 2014 the Disciplinary Tribunal determined that as set out in Article 39(a)(ii)B.1) of the Constitution, Ms Wenjuan (Lina) Geng was guilty of ‘dishonourable practice in any profession or undertaking’ when sitting the CPA Program Global Strategy and Leadership exam on 22 October 2013.
The Disciplinary Tribunal found that Ms Geng copied by hand extracts from case studies from that exam paper into her study notes, in breach of CPA Australia’s exam guidelines and ‘Academic Misconduct Policy’.
Ms Geng attended the Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing and admitted the breach.
Penalty and costs
The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaint sustained and imposed the penalty of forfeiture of Membership and that Ms Geng not be entitled to readmission to membership until 31 December 2015.
The Disciplinary Tribunal also ordered that a fail be recorded against Ms Geng’s exam result
The Tribunal determined that Ms Geng be permitted to enrol in Global Strategy and Leadership (or its equivalent) in the first semester of 2016 and that she be given until 31 December 2016 to complete the CPA Program.
Ms Geng was also ordered to pay CPA Australia’s costs of $621.70.
