On 7 August 2013 the Disciplinary Tribunal found Mr Liew Tip Chan breached Article 39(a)(ii)F of the Constitution in that he was "the subject of an adverse finding that has not been overturned on appeal in relation to the Member's conduct, competence or recognition by any Court, professional body, statutory or other regulatory authority in any jurisdiction" in respect of a decision of the Securities Commission Malaysia Audit Oversight Board dated 7 November 2012.

The Audit Oversight Board reprimanded Mr Liew and ordered he pay a pecuniary penalty of RM5000.

Mr Liew attended the Disciplinary Tribunal Hearing and denied the breach.

Penalty and Costs

The Disciplinary Tribunal found the Complaint sustained and imposed the penalty of:

• an admonishment
• that on or before 31 March 2014 Mr Liew to undertake and successfully complete a minimum of eight hours of an auditing related course through a regulatory body or an accounting association to the satisfaction of the General Manager Professional Conduct, a failure to so comply to result in forfeiture of Membership.

Mr Liew was ordered to pay costs of RM1494.
