The objective of the Independent Review was to ensure claims that impact the reputation of the organisation, the value of the accreditation, and the confidence of members are properly reviewed and addressed.
Findings and Recommendations
On 14 September 2017 the Independent Review Panel released its Preliminary Report to the members and Board of CPA Australia.
On 30 November 2017 the Independent Review Panel released its Final Report and recommendations to the members and Board of CPA Australia.
Implementation Timeline
On 15 December 2017 the Board of CPA Australia provided a detailed response.
Implementing many of the recommendations from the Independent Review required changes to CPA Australia’s Constitution, By-Laws and Charters.
Member Feedback
On 9 February 2018 the Board released an Issues Paper seeking member feedback on how best to implement the proposed changes.
Implementation Plan
The Board established the Independent Review Implementation Committee (IRIC) to:
• provide the Board with advice and guidance in relation to the findings and recommendations of the Independent Review;
• oversee an implementation plan of agreed actions; and
• ensure members receive transparent communication in relation to the progress against of the implementation plan.
On 13 December 2018 the IRIC released an Update Report detailing all the recommendations from the Independent Review’s Final Report and the status of their implementation.
In October 2019, the IRIC completed a final Update Report. The committee was satisfied that all of the Independent Review’s 29 recommendations were either complete, with no further action required, or embedded into management’s business-as-usual work programs. The Board of CPA Australia reviewed the Update Report at its Board meeting in December 2019 and accepted IRIC’s recommendation to conclude its work in this way.
