CPA Program professional level exams are conducted at the end of the semester. Each segment exam is of three hours duration, plus 15 minutes reading time. Most exams are "open book" and based on the study guide and material on My Online Learning that is noted as examinable. For Singapore Taxation, the exam is "closed book", but candidates can take into the exam the Tax Acts as referenced under the recommended texts section of the Singapore Taxation study guide.
Enrolment in a professional level segment includes automatic enrolment in the exam conducted in the semester of enrolment, with the exception of enrolments for reference purposes. When you enrol, you can select your exam location from a list of global locations.
Exam dates are shown at important dates and fees in advance of the semester. Alternative exam dates are not available. This is due to the secure nature of the exam process and the large number of exams that are conducted globally each semester. If the advertised dates are unsuitable, you should delay your enrolment to a future semester.
You may be eligible to defer your exam or cancel your enrolment if your personal circumstances change due to:
- a medical condition
- personal hardship
- a clash with another exam, or where your exam clashes with a significant personal event
If you sit your exam, you may be eligible to apply for special consideration if your exam preparation or exam sit was affected by:
- a medical condition
- personal hardship
- late receipt of segment materials
- an exam incident
Note: A heavy workload or work travel requirements are not eligible criteria for special consideration.
Exam results
After the exams, you will be able to access your results online and via short message service (SMS). A letter will be posted to you during the semester explaining how to access results. Additionally, an official transcript of results will be posted to you after the online and SMS release. For more information see getting and understanding your exam results.
Confirmation of exam location, date and time
Before each semester’s exams, you will receive a personalised "Exam Notification Letter" via mail confirming the location (including venue), date and time of your professional level exams.
A "Regulations and Instructions" document will be enclosed with the letter, containing information about attending the exams including:
- required and reference items
- non-permitted items
- proof of identity requirements
- the non-disclosure policy
- information about each exam's structure and mark allocations
You should receive your Exam Notification Letter by the date shown in important dates and fees. If you have not received the letter by the appropriate date, contact the Business Services Group, Deakin University.
Exam venues are liable to change from semester to semester, so it is vital that you check your Exam Notification Letter for details of your current semester exam venue.
If you receive written confirmation of an exam deferral or cancellation of enrolment, you should disregard the relevant exam details included in the Exam Notification Letter.
